Often when people find out that I commute year round by bicycle, even in the winter, I'm accused of being crazy. I'm sure there are crazier people out there.
I used to know some guys who winter surfed in Homer. When air temps were in the single digits and water temps were in the high 30s, they used to brag that the water was the warmest place to be. Crazy.
I don't think anyone considers California bike commuting all that crazy in the winter, but when I lived in Colorado people thought I was nuts for commuting in the middle of the night through snow and single digit temps. Most of the folks I knew ski or snowboard, so I ask how cold and windy it was the last time they hit the slopes.

Good photos by way of illustration. And where's Bear from Man Vs. Wild?
